You’ve planted your beans and it is time to water. Here’s how:
Water deeply, and only as needed
Water newly planted seeds daily for a couple of weeks. After that, monitor soil moisture. If the first 2.5. cm (inch) or so is dry, you need to water. Reduce frequency of watering when there is a lot of rainfall.
Water at the base of the plant
- Water at the base of individual plants. Don’t spray leaves. Wet leaves can cause disease.
Water early in the day
- Water early in the day if you can. This helps keep water in the ground instead of evaporating into the air.
Water gently
- Spraying the soil with too much force can damage soil structure, expose roots and harm seedlings. Try not to splash water up onto the leaves.
